John Chen, Andrew Kang, Henry Wong. Rain coats would soon be coming
out of the bags.
Gloom lurks over the horizon. This tournament would be called for rain by
the time the final group got to the 12th hole.

Soggy par 3.
Ram Sharma enters the arena of the third hole.
Mark Steppan braving the elements, and doing so with unparallel success. Through 12
holes (just before it was called) he was only 1 over par. He and Mike
Henry (5
over through 12) were well on their way to a substantial purse. They had also
both won the CTP in their flights. Mother Nature had other ideas about the
outcome.
Because of the way this event unfolded, particularly
for Mike and Mark, this tournament would serve as a case in favor of
accepting front nine scores for tournaments, assuming, of course that all
players finish those nine holes under similar playing conditions. The
decision to accept such result was made primarily due to the controversy
at the 2003 Las Positas
tournament.
