2nd Event of 2001 Season
Saturday, December 2, 2000
(Note: Pictures with blue borders can be
clicked on and enlarged.)
Kelly Alvarez, Mark Dallow, Rick Crawford, and Ram Sharma on the first hole.
Rick Crawford's net 67 captured the second flight. (click to

Mark Dallow's drive on #10. Mark's golf leaves much to be
desired, however, earlier in the week he rolled perfect 300 in a bowling
tournament.
Kelly Alvarez on the 10th hole.
Rick Crawford on #10.
Martin Kitchener, Andy Gibbs (not "Gibb", of
Beegee fame), Barry Woods(not "Tiger", not close), and John
Carlson.
Barry Woods on #10.
John Carlson on #10.
New member Tom Furtado on #10.
Tom on #13.
Mark Boguski on #10.
Mark on #11.
Mark on #13.
Andrew Kang on #10.
Andrew's drive on #14, a thing of beauty.
Andrew's approach on #14.
Andrew on #18. Andrew's 85 (net 70) although very respectable, was not enough to place though on a day when the weather would
provide for good
scoring.
Aaron Walburg on #18.
The lead pack. Left to right are Rollie Otto, John Dwyer,
Steve Desimone, and Ken Lloyd. Steve and Ken would have great rounds. Ken
took the first flight by storm, shooting a 74 or net 68 during a round
which included 17 pars and 1 double bogey. Steve took third place and
shooting an even par 72 for a net 71, his double bogey on the last hole
left a bitter taste in his mouth.
John Dwyer sinks this 12-footer on the 9th hole.
Steve sinks a 6-footer for par on the 9th hole and seals
up a blistering 33 on the front. His shot at #7 landed 7' 3"
from the hole and won him the first flight's CTP.
Steve was flying high, that is, until the 18th hole...
Ed Biglin tapping in on #7.
Elliott Friedman tapping in as well on #7. Elliott's 88(net
69 was good enough to take the third flight
Fritz Stern and Charles Upshaw on #2.
Bill Hoover charmed by the snake. The Hoover contingency penalizes 3-putting
with humiliation, forcing the unlucky hacker to wear the snake until
another player 3-putts. On this day Bill was the last to 3-putt.
In the clubhouse bar Bill ties one on, so to speak.
A chaotic swarm surrounds the scoring table as a dangerous
mix of beer and anticipation swell over. The big news of the day is Paul
Higaki's net 56, a new club record. It was Paul's personal best, a 78 from
a 22-handicapper(not for long).
Steve confirming results.
Elliott Friedman and Paul Higaki glancing over Steve's shoulder like expectant
father's, nervously awaiting the final scorecard's impact. Both men won their flights
Paul Higaki's net 56 will live on in UCGC lore.
