More Tournaments
|
Those of you that can't seem to get enough tournament
golf can sign up for these annual events. Most of them are
"unlimited" (open on a first-come-first-serve basis). However, we are
limited in sending only a few players to several of the NCGA events. Therefore
participation in these NCGA events is determined based on GOY points. These four events are denoted with a (G). The
Associate Club Four-Ball Net Championship team is represented by our 2-Ball
Champions, usually held at Tilden Park (2B). Anyone can sign up for all of the
other events, but it is up to you to fill out and provide payment for these
extra tournaments. My one recommendation is that, if you have an opportunity,
the Public Links Tournament is terrific. It's also the best way to get onto
Spyglass Hill for a relatively swell price. Of course you have to qualify first,
but it's perhaps the event with the least competition and best chance for
advancing. At least that's my experience, and I've never succeeded in advancing,
but the scores I've seen at this event appear reasonable. - Aaron

NCGA Entry Form Deadlines (Fitted for UCGC)
This schedule is primarily to help Aaron organize the NCGA events.
Phone in any substitutions a week prior to event!
(G) Participation based on GOY standings.
(2B)Participation based on our 2-Ball Championship. (Team members must have
indexes of 18.0 or better)
* Approximate dates - For events listed as "Unlimited", it's
generally important to send in applications at the earliest possible time, as
these events sell out.
** Prior to 2004, Associate Clubs competed in the "Net Amateur Championship". In
2004 all Associate Clubs will only compete in the inaugural "Associate Club Net
Amateur Championship".
*** Participants must be age 55 or older by the date of the Qualifier.

Entry Forms
Entry forms for most of these tournaments are located in the
back of the NCGA Golf Magazine's Bluebook Edition which is printed annually and
released in January. Universal Entry Forms are available on the NCGA website, however these forms seldom provide
as much detail about the particular tournaments as do the Bluebook entry forms.
To enter the Cal Golf Fundraiser events contact Steve Desimone at (510)643-5914.
To enter the SF City Championship it's best to phone Harding Park and/or Lincoln
Park golf course in mid-December. Harding Park numbers are: Starter -
(415)664-4690 or try Lance Wong at (415)221-6432, extension 2, or (415)221-9911, or try (415) 664-5030. This is
a difficult tournament to enter. Persistence is the key. Once you've obtained an
entry form mail it in or hand-deliver ASAP.

Entry Forms for all NCGA tournaments can be found in the January "Bluebook" edition
of the NCGA's quarterly Golf Magazine. Entry forms for tournaments denoted with double-asterisks(**)
are handled by Steve Desimone, the club manager.
(The "More
Tournaments" section has recently been completely reorganized and
simplified. It was a much needed, albeit exceptionally time-consuming
project. Every scrap of relevant data has been mined from the NCGA web
site and retooled for our site thus creating one cohesive and easily navigable
presentation. The resulting section provides much greater ease of use and ease of interpreting the procedures for successfully entering various additional
non-UCGC tournaments. It's also much more clear the difference between each
of these tournaments. It pulls together information on all the major
tournaments available to we associate club members. The section also
provides much more convenience and yearly continuity than is available on the NGGA's chronological
listing of every tournament.)
NCGA Policy on Substitutions in Associate
Club Events
"Substitutions for a team event (four-ball net, associate club championship,
etc.) and Net Amateur that require qualifying on a Thursday can only be made through Tuesday of the same week."
